I'm confused... the theory is that if you cut taxes for the rich, then they will create jobs. Bush cut taxes for the rich in 2001 and unemployment has increased over the last 10 years... someone tell me what happened to that theory

Contradicting Republicans

I believe that Republicans contradict themselves on a fundamental and platform level. If you look at their social and economic platforms, you will be able to tell a huge contradiction on a philosophical level. Their basis for economic policy is that every man should be able to keep what he earns and for the government to reach into their pockets and tax them for an entitlement program would be a violation of their rights. They believe in "small government" so to speak. However, if you look at their social policies, it is the exact opposite. The two biggest issues obviously have to be gay marriage and abortion. According to their platforms, they believe that life is sacred and that the government should make it illegal for a person to have an abortion because it would be murder according to their beliefs. Their basic argument is, "I don't believe it's right for this person to get an abortion and therefore, they should not be allowed to do so." For same-sex marriage, it's the same thing. Because they don't believe that it's right for two people of the same gender to marry, then they shouldn't be allowed to. Here lies the contradiction of their platforms. On one hand, they tell the government to stay out of their own personal pocketbook, but then tell the government that they should reach into the personal lives of other people. As such, a true conservative actually has contradictory values and therefore are always hypocritical when speaking to either policy.

Welcome to my blog. This is a place where I hope you can feel you can share your ideas about the politics of the good ol' United States. We are in a time of great ordeals with instant information via internet, lying and dumb politicians, lying and dumb media figures, and overall no one truly knows how to argue the facts, but only what they can say to raise their ratings. I am a fan of logic and I am here to hear your opinions and hope that truth comes from your brains and that you realize only truth comes from my brain as well. Hopefully, we can have meaningful discussions and debates on this blog in order so that anyone who does not know or understand the truth can learn both.
